American actor and producer Patrick Muldoon, best known for his roles in Days of Our Lives and Starship Troopers, has died at the age of 57. He suffered a heart attack at his Beverly Hills home on Sunday, April 19, 2026, his manager confirmed, as reported by Variety.

Muldoon was discovered unconscious in the bathroom by his girlfriend, Miriam Rothbart, after he had gone to shower. Emergency responders attempted to revive him at the scene, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

Born in San Pedro, California, Muldoon began acting while attending the University of Southern California. He appeared in television roles early in his career, including a recurring part on Saved by the Bell shortly after graduating in 1991.

He rose to prominence playing Austin Reed on Days of Our Lives from 1992 to 1995, later reprising the role in 2011. He was also known for his performances as Richard Hart in Melrose Place and Zander Barcalow in the 1997 film Starship Troopers.

Muldoon remained active in the entertainment industry and had recently reunited with Denise Richards for the upcoming crime thriller Dirty Hands, scheduled for release this year.

In addition to acting, he pursued music as the lead singer and guitarist for the rock band The Sleeping Masses. He also worked as a producer on films such as The Tribes of Palos Verdes, Arkansas, and Marlowe, and was involved in the upcoming film Kockroach, starring Chris Hemsworth and Taron Egerton.

In his final Instagram post, shared a day before his death, Muldoon expressed enthusiasm for his latest project, writing that he was “so excited to be a part of this amazing project,” according to AOL.

Tributes quickly followed from colleagues and fans. Actress Alison Sweeney, his co-star on Days of Our Lives, described the news as heartbreaking, calling Muldoon “brilliantly talented” and “endlessly kind and generous in spirit.”

She added that he brought “unique charm and humor” to his work and would be deeply missed.

His Starship Troopers co-star Dina Meyer also paid tribute, saying Muldoon was “one of the kindest people” she had known and “like a brother,” remembering him as someone who always brought laughter to those around him.

Muldoon made his final public appearance at the 2026 Saturn Awards in March. He is survived by his partner Miriam Rothbart, his parents Deanna and Patrick Muldoon Sr., and his sister Shana Muldoon-Zappa and her family.
